GUIDE DOGS - Our Charity for 2015
'Every hour, another person in the UK goes blind. When someone loses their sight, we’re here to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.' We are delighted that for 2015, Chamber Music @ Worcester Raffle is in aid of Guide Dogs. This charity is particularly close to our hearts, as it is an organisation that one of the festival's founding members, Shulah Oliver, fundraises tirelessly for. As she says in her own words - 'When I was in the 6th form at school, I decided to start fundraising to sponsor a Guide Dog through its training - at the time I needed to raise about £2,500 to achieve this...so as a violinist I started busking at Christmas and giving concerts. Seventeen years later I am now a professional violinist and I have raised over £47,000 for Guide Dogs through busking every Christmas in Worcester and giving concerts in Worcester and London...I also ran my first 10k for Guide Dogs in 2014. My aim now is to reach £50,000 before the end of the year. I have already given 2 concerts and will be doing more performing in aid of Guide Dogs before the year is out. My JustGiving Page is HERE.
